The Rotary Foundation 2012-13 Global Alumni Service to Humanity Award and Alumni Association of the Year Award
he Rotary Foundation Trustees are pleased to announce the selection of Harminder Dua as the recipient of the 2012-13 Global Alumni Service to Humanity Award. Dr. Dua is an ophthalmologist in Nottingham, England. He serves as the chair and professor of ophthalmology at the University of Nottingham, Queen's Medical Centre. He is renowned as a world authority on corneal disorders and performs advanced surgeries. While living in India, he provided free eye care to needy patients in rural areas. He was a 1980-81 Group Study Exchange team member from India to the United States.
The Rotary Foundation Trustees are also pleased to announce the selection of The Rotary Foundation Alumni Association of District 6560 as the recipient of the 2012-13 Alumni Association of the Year Award. The association is located in Indiana, USA, and its mission is to maintain and strengthen the contact between alumni and Rotary. The 120-member group strives to be a bridge between recipients of Foundation grants and local Rotary clubs. It meets quarterly to conduct a range of social and humanitarian projects.
The awards will be presented to Dr. Dua and the Alumni Association of District 6560 in June at the 2013 RI Convention in Lisbon, Portugal.
